Mandatory Deregistration: A business must apply for VAT deregistration if: The taxable supplies or income have fallen below the mandatory registration threshold of AED 375,000. Voluntary Deregistration: A business can apply for deregistration if: The taxable supplies or expenses are below AED 187,500. The business is no longer operational or has ceased taxable supplies. Steps to Deregister for VAT in UAE Log in to the FTA Portal: Visit the FTA website: www.tax.gov.ae. Log in to your e-Services account using your credentials. Navigate to the VAT deregistration Section: After logging in, go to the VAT deregistration section. Click on ‘Apply for VAT deregistration’. Fill in the Deregistration Application: Provide the following details: Reason for deregistration. Date when the business ceased making taxable supplies. Supporting information such as financial statements, closure certificates, or other relevant documents. Submit the Required Documents: Prepare and upload all necessary documents, including: Final financial records showing no taxable supplies. Evidence of business closure (if applicable). Proof of reduced turnover (if applicable). Review and Submit the Application: Double-check all the details entered. Submit your deregistration application for FTA review. Await Approval from the FTA: The FTA will review your application and notify you via email regarding the approval status. Upon approval, your VAT deregistration will be processed, and your Tax Registration Number (TRN) will be deactivated.
